All About "Me", Book Themes December 7th, 2007

One of the scrapbook themes I have been playing with this last year is a book called ‘All about me’.  And I have to confess it is not an easy book.  So far in my scrapbooking career my books have been  devoted to my children because let’s be honest - isn’t it just so easy to concentrate on your little ones?  But as I ponder how I would like to pass on my legacy I realized that I want my children to know me - all about me.

But what about ‘me’ do I want to record for generations to come? How do I want to organize this theme? What sort of pages would I include in this book?  We will later look at some resources that I have collected on this topic. Right now we are going to start with an idea that I have found to be the most powerful and really the most fun for me.

Let’s ask a question….well a series of questions. To get us thinking about ourselves, our past, our hopes, our dreams, our interests. To search inward and to discover the ‘me’ that God created. We are each unique and special in the Lord’s eyes. Together let’s find out what God has planted inside of us and let’s share it with each other. Later we can pull it all together and create a very special “All about Me” scrapbook to pass on to our children.

This first question came to mind today as I sat down to read a book to my 11 month old daughter.  And as I read the book I realized that the topic or theme of this book really touched me and well really said alot about me as person.   So here is our first question:

Question Number One - What is your favorite children’s book?  What book did you like to have read to you as a child? Or what book did you or do you like to read to your children today?

I have two favorites - The Little Engine That Could (this was the book I read to my daughter this afternoon) and Green Eggs and Ham.  Even the little engine was blue - one of my favorite colors!

Please comment and share your favorite book. I would love to hear all about it!

Have you decorated your home for Christmas yet? Have you put up your tree and your ornaments? What does it feel like when you take your ornaments of the box? Does each ornament have a special memory?

A few days ago I visited a really good friend. She had just finished decorating her home for the Christmas season. Everything looked beautiful.  What stood out most to me this year was her ’scrapbook’ tree. I wish I had a picture of it. Big and tall it held over 40 pictures of her children. Ah what memories! And what fun to see the growth of her precious children over the years.  She shared with me how much fun it is to open this box of ornaments…to unwrap each ornament and look at the pictures.  Each year she updates a few of the ornaments to add new memories to the tree.

How have you used your pictures to add that personal touch to your decorations?  Follow the inspiration……
